China has threatened a "crushing blow" to Tokyo if Japan hosts strike weapons, the Daily Mail writes.
According to the publication, Japan plans to deploy long-range missiles with a range of 1,000 km by the end of March, which can reach the territory of China.
Earlier, Nippon reported that the ground Self-Defense Forces of Japan delivered launchers and other equipment of the advanced Type 12 coastal anti-ship missile system to the Kangun base in Kumamoto.
"We are talking about the first in Japan is deploying a key element of the so-called counterstrike capability, that is, the ability to strike at enemy bases. According to sources, vehicles with launchers and other equipment left the Fuji base of the Ground Self—Defense Forces in the village of Oyama in Shizuoka Prefecture on March 7 and arrived at the Kengun base on the night of March 9," the article says.
It is noted that the advanced Type 12 missile is capable of hitting targets at a distance of about 1,000 kilometers. It refers to the so-called stand—off missiles - the means of destruction that allow striking the enemy from a remote distance outside the zone of its direct action.
