The post of rector of the Moscow Art Theater Studio School can be occupied by the artistic director and director of the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater, People's Artist of Russia Konstantin Khabensky. This is reported by Kommersant with reference to a source close to the academic council of the university.
Also, this information was confirmed by the interlocutor of the publication surrounded by Khabensky.
According to the first source, in addition to Konstantin Khabensky, the candidacy of Vadim Vernik, deputy director of the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater for public relations, was discussed.
"At the same time, the charter of the Moscow Art Theater Studio School states that "combining the position of rector with another paid leadership position inside or outside the institute is not allowed," but artistic and creative leadership is one of the exceptions," the publication says.
As EADaily reported, the director, Honored Artist of Russia Konstantin Bogomolov, appointed acting rector of the Studio School on January 23, announced his resignation on February 11 amid active criticism of former graduates and university teachers.
After that, the Ministry of Culture of Russia announced that Bogomolov was relieved of his duties as rector of the Moscow Art Theater Studio School at his own request. The decision on the appointment of the acting rector will be made in accordance with the established procedure, the department added.
Later, a TASS source named possible candidates for the position of rector of the Studio School. This short list includes: theater and film actor, People's Artist of Russia, artistic director of the Moscow Provincial Theater Sergey Bezrukov; actor, People's Artist of Russia and State Duma deputy Dmitry Pevtsov; as well as artistic director of the Pushkin Theater Yevgeny Pisarev.
Both Singers and Bezrukov immediately recused themselves.
Earlier, the actor of theater and cinema, People's Artist of Russia Boris Shcherbakov said that the rector of the university should be "not an actor and not a director."
"It should be a good director who loves actors madly. He should adore students," Shcherbakov explained.
