Lithuania has no plans to help its citizens evacuate from the Middle East. This was stated by the representative of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry Aiste Stakenene.
According to him, more than 1,000 Lithuanian citizens are currently in the UAE. About 400 of them are registered in the system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Of these, 80 asked for help in leaving the country.
"However, all of them were informed that assistance has not yet been provided. We need to follow the recommendations of foreign countries, and the main task is to stay safe. The airspace will probably be opened in the coming days, then we will be able to monitor our flights and see when we can leave," said Stakenene.
Recall, on February 28, Israel and the United States attacked Iran. Tehran retaliated by attacking American bases in the region and Israeli military facilities. The airspace over the countries of the Middle East remains closed to civil aviation for the time being.
