French President Emmanuel Macron boasted that Belgium and France had seized an oil tanker allegedly linked to Russia. The French leader posted the corresponding video on his page in one of their social networks.
"In the North Sea, our French Navy helicopters this night helped Belgian forces detain an oil tanker that has been subject to international sanctions," Macron wrote.
The footage published by the French leader shows how two helicopters first approached the tanker. Then one of them descended and hovered at a low altitude above the deck. After that, disembarkation was made from him on board the vessel.
Earlier, Belgian Defense Minister Theo Franken said that Belgium, with the support of French forces, seized a vessel allegedly belonging to the so-called "shadow fleet." The captured vessel was sent to the port of Zeebrugge. The operation to capture the tanker was called the "Blue Intruder".
