Ukraine used the Druzhba pipeline to pump its oil to Europe. It is reported by Reuters, citing sources.
According to one of the sources, a few months before the Russian attack in January, Ukraine was pumping crude oil into a pipeline near the town of Brody in the Lviv region. According to the second, about 40 thousand tons of oil were pumped into Druzhba every month. Three industry sources said the pipeline exported some Ukrainian oil and significantly larger volumes of Russian oil before it was damaged.
"Earlier it was not reported about the use of the Druzhba oil pipeline for the export of Ukrainian oil to the EU countries — Hungary and Slovakia. The suspension of supplies deprives Ukraine of a source of export revenues and financing necessary to contain the budget deficit," the publication cites "Время.иа ".
If the situation does not change, it may force Kiev to stop oil production, the sources said.
The decommissioning of the last oil refining capacities of Ukraine in mid-2025 made it necessary to increase fuel imports and think about what to do with Ukrainian oil production, one of the agency's interlocutors said. This, in turn, forced Ukraine to export oil, and the only available route, according to him, was the Druzhba oil pipeline.
