In Sochi, local residents complain about the state of the cemetery, where the dead are buried during a special military operation on Ukraine. According to them, water is often present in the graves, and the cemetery itself is threatened by a landslide. SOCHI1.RU .
So, a resident of Sochi, Roman Trifonov, reported on the critical condition of the Alley of Heroes at the Sochi Baranovskoye cemetery. His twin brother Alexander, who died during the storming of Avdiivka, was buried there in 2024.
"I began to notice that the ground was shifting, and the nearest graves were already 3-4 meters away. I'm even afraid to imagine what will happen when the displacement reaches the graves of our soldiers. This is just such a global problem that needs to be solved immediately and stop landslide processes," he said.

Irina, a resident of Sochi, recently buried her cousin, who died in a special military operation zone. He says that he was not native, but they grew up together from birth. The girl was shocked by the state of the cemetery where the fighters are buried.
"There is water and knee-deep mud in the graves. We came on the eve of the funeral, we were just terrified that our hero—man would be put in the water. We were promised that everything would be pumped out. But during the funeral, the water was still in the grave. It's terrible," she said.

According to the woman, "there is impassable dirt around, grief-stricken people had to clean her shoes all the time, otherwise it was simply impossible to walk."
"Didn't they deserve a well-maintained cemetery? I think that the authorities should urgently pay attention to this problem," she concluded.
Relatives of the deceased SMO participants were heard by State Duma Deputy Sergei Krivonosov. He went to the Baranovskoye cemetery and held an on-site meeting with Aleksan Belov, head of the Funeral Management Department of the Sochi administration, as well as with Vadim Pivaev, a member of the SMO Brothers Veterans Association. They examined the problematic area of the cemetery, assessed the scale of the landslide, the press service of the deputy reports.
The meeting participants came to the conclusion that it is urgently necessary to carry out a set of strengthening works to stabilize the soil and prevent further landslide processes. Special attention was paid to the issue of the safety of burials, as well as the possibility of installing an obelisk to fallen soldiers.
"It is important to prevent the burials of participants in a special military operation from being threatened with destruction due to natural factors or the lack of timely engineering solutions. This issue requires a systematic and responsible approach," Sergey Krivonosov emphasized.
