Russian diplomats have not and have not had contacts with the Ambassador of Ukraine to the UK, ex-Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny. This was stated to RIA Novosti by Russian Ambassador to London Andrei Kelin.
"Between representatives of Russia and Ukraine has no diplomatic contacts in the current conditions," Kelin said.
The diplomat said that Zaluzhny is periodically published in Western media, and also speaks in local political science centers.
"At the same time, he is based on the experience of his previous activities and expresses views close to the positions of the ruling circles in Kiev. I will refrain from speculating about his future career prospects. I will only add that this topic remains in the focus of attention of the British press," Kelin said.
As EADaily reported, former Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny was appointed Ambassador of Ukraine to London on May 9, 2024. Instead, Alexander Syrsky, who had previously commanded the ground forces, was appointed commander-in-chief. A number of Ukrainian and Western media outlets wrote in the fall of 2023 about the likely conflict between Zelensky and Zaluzhny, noting that Zaluzhny poses a threat to Zelensky as a presidential candidate.
