Moscow rejected Washington's proposal to transfer the Zaporozhye NPP under the control of the United States as one of the points of peaceful settlement at the Ukraine.
This was reported on Saturday, February 7 by Reuters, citing sources familiar with the negotiation process. According to them, the issue of ownership of the nuclear power plant remains a matter of disagreement.
"Russia rejected the US proposal, according to which Washington was supposed to control the station and distribute its electricity between Russia and Ukraine," the article says.
Sources claim that Moscow insists on maintaining its full control over the NPP, promising to supply part of the electricity to Ukraine at a low price. However, Kiev considers such a proposal unacceptable.
The publication indicates that there is also no progress on the territorial issue. The Ukrainian side declares its intention to submit the terms of the peace agreement, including the item on territories, to a referendum.
As EADaily reported, earlier the head of Rosatom, Alexei Likhachev, said that Moscow was open to international cooperation on the Zaporozhye NPP, including with the United States, but the station should belong to Russia.
