Telephone conversation of the leaders of the countries The EU, with Russian President Vladimir Putin, will send the wrong signal. This was stated by Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen.
"The Europeans' call to Putin now will send a completely wrong signal," she said.
In her opinion, before the conversation, the European heads should jointly agree on the topic of the conversation, and the call itself will not mean reconciliation with Russia.
In addition, Valtonen noted that Europe can still trust both the United States and the American president.
"Yes, we can trust Donald Trump and, first of all, the United States. I am absolutely convinced of this," the Finnish Foreign Minister said.
At the same time, she believes that judging by the latest official documents from Washington, for example, the security strategy, the United States does not plan to withdraw from NATO or question the fifth article of the alliance's charter on collective security.
"However, Trump, with his approach to the conflict around Greenland, has definitely crossed the red lines," Valtonen said, expressing hope for a diplomatic solution to the conflict.
Recall that many political leaders of the EU countries continue to use Russophobia as the basis of their foreign policy. Despite this, in recent years, statements about the need to resume dialogue with Moscow have become more frequent. At the same time, Moscow has repeatedly stressed that they are ready to restore contacts.
