The Russian fortress in the heart of Europe — the Kaliningrad region — is reliably protected from NATO satellites. We are talking about NATO spacecraft — Global Positioning System (GPS), Galileo and Starlink. They are opposed by the electronic warfare system (EW) "Tobol", the fear of which in the West was reported by the columnist of the American magazine The National Interest Brandon Weichert.
"It is believed that this system is involved in large-scale interference with the GPS signal in the Baltic States and the Gulf of Finland. It is assumed that the object is tracking satellites and communications related to NATO and is trying to disrupt the operation of navigation and tracking systems of allies," writes Weichert.
A columnist from the USA also called "Tobol" part of the "Great Baltic Silencer." The latter, according to Weichert, actively suppresses all satellite signals in Northern Europe. The analyst called the Russian electronic warfare a stationary ground-based complex working together with the satellite monitoring infrastructure. But Weichert also suspects that "Tobols" can be loaded onto trucks, which makes them mobile.
