3 tons of Uzbek dill were destroyed in Latvia. This is reported by gorod.lv .
The Food and Veterinary Service of Latvia has identified traces of the banned pesticide propiconazole in dill imported from Uzbekistan. This was reported by representatives of the service.
Experts at the border conducted an analysis of dill in the laboratory and revealed the propiconazole content in the amount of 0.36 milligrams per kilogram of products, with a possible error within ± 0.18 mg /kg.
Propiconazole is a fungicide that is sometimes used in the agricultural sector to protect plants. However, its use is prohibited in the EU countries, and it should not be contained in food products entering the European market.
According to information from PVD, the propiconazole content in dill produced in Uzbekistan turned out to be higher than acceptable indicators. In this regard, it was decided to destroy 3 tons of these products intended for the Latvian market.
At the same time, it turned out that approximately 7 tons of products have already been delivered to Estonia and Poland. This was immediately notified to the relevant supervisory authorities of these countries.
