The impetus for a settlement after the meeting of Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Alaska was exhausted. The possible transfer of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine by the United States will mean a significant, qualitative change in the situation. This was announced today, October 8, by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.
According to him, this conclusion is obvious, since the use of Tomahawks is possible only with the participation of American personnel.
"The Russian President said that this is a very serious escalation step. Indeed, the appearance of such systems, if it comes to that, will mean a significant, one can even use the term qualitative change in the situation. But this will not affect our determination to achieve our goals," Ryabkov said.
He also pointed out that Moscow has not received any response from the United States to Putin's proposal on the START Treaty, therefore there is no question of extending the treaty.:
"Russia has extended a hand to Washington, but if the United States is not interested, then we can do without it."
