We are talking about the chairman of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan Kanat Sharlapayev.

"Last year I wrote about a scandalous situation: the Minister of Industry Kanat Sharlapayev transferred the rights to the Kalba rare earth deposit to a representative of the Citi Group international holding, for which he had worked for 14 years before. Later, Sharlapayev managed to visit the assistant to the President of Kazakhstan, and now he heads the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs. At the same time, he ... was a British citizen," the expert wrote in his telegram channel.

According to Mendkovich, Sharlapayev arrived in Kazakhstan in 2022. At the beginning of 2023, he received a passport of a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan. On September 4 of the same year he became a minister. And only on November 29, 2023, he renounced his British citizenship.

Being a British citizen, Sharlapaev simultaneously headed the state-owned Development Bank of Kazakhstan, the Industrial Development Fund and the Baiterek state holding.

"That is, a foreigner who has just arrived in Kazakhstan is given control of several state corporations, appointed minister and allowed to dispose of Kazakh mineral resources in the interests of London and Washington. This is called neocolonialism," Mendkovich concluded.
