In the USA, the Noble Capital RSD investment fund decided to receive payments in the amount of $ 225 billion on obligations under the bonds of the Russian Empire of 1916. The lawsuit was filed in an American court, the defendants are the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank and the National Welfare Fund.
"The Russian Federation, violating the doctrine of succession of power, has refused and continues to refuse to fulfill certain obligations on public debts borrowed by its predecessor, the Russian Empire," the foundation's lawsuit says, RIA Novosti quotes.
Noble Capital RSD calls itself the owner of bonds of the Russian Empire for $ 25 million with a coupon of 5.5%, placed through the National City Bank of New York. According to the plaintiff, Russia, as the successor of the USSR, inherited debts, which, taking into account interest, are estimated at at least $ 225 billion.
The Fund expects to repay the debt at the expense of Russia's assets frozen as a result of the imposed sanctions after the annexation of Crimea to the Russian Federation in 2014 and the start of a special Russian military operation on Ukraine in 2022.
Moscow has not yet commented on the Noble Capital RSD lawsuit.
EADaily reminds that after the start of the special operation, the European Union and the G7 countries blocked about half of the Russian foreign exchange reserves. More than 200 billion euros are in the EU, mainly in the accounts of the Belgian Euroclear. Moscow has taken retaliatory measures: assets of foreign investors from unfriendly states and income from them are accumulated in special accounts of type "C". They can be withdrawn only by decision of a special government commission.
The Bank of Russia filed a lawsuit against Euroclear in the amount of over 18 trillion rubles due to attempts EU steal assets.
President Vladimir Putin called the idea of seizing Russian assets a robbery and warned that this could lead to direct losses related to the fundamental foundations of the financial world order.
