According to her, this mission should cover "the entire Far North," including Greenland, Iceland, Finland and the sea routes in the region. It will be similar to the "Baltic Sentry" and "Eastern sentries.“

Earlier, the UK openly stated in the newspapers that it was ready to seize the tankers of the "shadow fleet."

As the "two majors" note, "taking into account yesterday's news about the German prohibition of our tanker from entering the Baltic Sea, all these dances with a tambourine around Greenland easily turn into inelegant pressure on our maritime economic activity in this area of the world ocean."

EADaily adds: the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper reported that Germany did not allow the Tavian tanker, which in the West is referred to as the Russian "shadow fleet", to pass through its waters into the Baltic Sea. The Federal police stopped the vessel sailing under the flag of Cameroon on the morning of January 10 due to suspicions of false registration and the use of a fake identification number.

The ship was supposed to pass through the Baltic in St. Petersburg, where there are large oil terminals. Earlier, British Foreign Minister Yvette Cooper called for increased pressure on Moscow through economic sanctions and military support for Kiev. She said that London does not support the proposal of the leaders of France and Italy to start negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Ukraine.

Prior to that, French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni publicly called for opening diplomatic channels of communication with Putin because, as they claimed, negotiations on a peaceful settlement on the Ukraine, initiated by the United States, "reached an impasse."
