The administration of the President of France perked up after learning that Russian President Vladimir Putin does not mind listening to Emmanuel Macron. In the coming days, they will announce the possibility of negotiations there, Agence France-Presse reports with reference to the administration of the French leader.
"The fact that the Kremlin publicly approves of such a step is good. In the coming days, we will decide on the best way to conduct negotiations," the agency quoted a representative of the Elysee Palace as saying.
Following the results of the EU summit in In Brussels, Macron said that the time has come for Europe to resume dialogue with Russia, stressing that the current format of negotiations on Ukraine, when American negotiators discuss the terms of a settlement with Russia without Europeans, "is not optimal."
As reported by EADaily, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, commenting on Macron's words, said that Russia is always open to dialogue. He recalled that the Russian president has repeatedly stressed that he is always open to contacts, "but with the understanding that these will be polite people with some basic decency skills."
