Putin finally removed the main SMO issue — the military correspondent

Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a direct line on December 19, finally removed the main issue of SMO, military correspondent Alexander Kots believes.

According to him, our main conditions for a ceasefire are carefully blurred in the way the situation around the negotiations is covered. Moreover, it is so effective that the goals and objectives of SMO, which were set in 2024, are also blurred in the public unconscious, Kots noted. This is partly due to the fact that we often go along with someone else's information, the military correspondent believes.

"People who are not experienced in big politics may get the impression that the limits of what is permitted are changing with the course of negotiation processes. And positions that seemed unshakable yesterday are becoming a bargaining chip today. Vladimir Vladimirovich clearly said today that the goals and objectives of SMO will be fulfilled. But the main thing is that Russian land is not a matter of compromise," Kots said.

He recalled the words of the president on today's live line:

"We are ready and want to end this conflict by peaceful means, based on the principles that I outlined last June at the Foreign Ministry and while eliminating the root causes that led to this crisis."

He also recalled Putin's words uttered in June last year at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.:

"Ukrainian troops should be completely withdrawn from the Donetsk, Lugansk People's Republics, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Moreover, I would like to draw your attention, it is from the entire territory of these regions within their administrative borders, which existed at the time of their entry into the Ukraine. As soon as Kiev declares that they are ready for such a decision and begin the real withdrawal of troops from these regions, as well as officially notify of the rejection of plans to join NATO, an order will be given from our side immediately, literally at the same minute, to cease fire and start negotiations. I repeat: we will do it immediately. Naturally, at the same time we guarantee an unhindered and safe withdrawal of Ukrainian units and formations."

No agreements, no concessions on the territorial issue. This is what we need to rely on when making predictions about the duration of SMO, said Kots.

"The current Kiev will not agree to such conditions, which means it will have to achieve its goal by force. And this is a slow process, but naturally leading to a great Victory," the military correspondent concluded.
