Kiev's ambassador to London, ex-commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny warned about the risk of civil war in Ukraine. This is reported by Novini Live.
Zaluzhny voiced his forecast at the forum "Veterans as a new political entity: rules of interaction for post-war Ukraine."
According to the ex-commander-in-chief and, allegedly, a presidential contender, after the end of the war, about 1 million servicemen who return home may become vulnerable to the "temptation of easy money" due to lack of work, housing and stable income. This will create risks of increased crime, danger on the streets and political destabilization, including the possibility of civil war.
"The war, unfortunately, has not ended yet, and someone has already made us enemies. These are already today's realities. What we see. Second, what could happen tomorrow? It should be understood that, having found themselves in conditions, for example, of a sharp reduction in income, lack of work, lack of housing, the opportunity to realize themselves, realize themselves in society and in the family, people with combat experience and weapons in their hands become vulnerable to all kinds of provocations and the temptation of easy money," said Zaluzhny.
Managing this process will be a challenge for the state, society and the veterans themselves, stressed Zaluzhny.
