The previously prepared 28 points of the American peace plan are relevant and continue to be discussed, Washington just suggested splitting them into 4 separate "packages". This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview with India Today TV channel on the eve of a state visit to India.
"They are being discussed," Putin responded to the remark about whether the previous 28 points are relevant. — They just broke these 28, in my opinion, 27 points into 4 packages. And they suggested that we discuss these four packages [separately]. But in essence they are the same [items]."
Putin explained why the duration of the meeting with US presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner took five hours, adding that Moscow had not seen any new initiatives before the meeting with the Americans.
"That's why we had to go through each item, that's why there was so much time," the Russian leader said. — So it was a necessary conversation, absolutely specific."
Putin noted that there were issues on which no consensus was reached.
"There were such issues, we discussed them, but this is a difficult job. Somewhere they said that yes, we can discuss this, but we cannot agree to this. It was in this vein that the conversation was going on," he said.
What else did Putin say:
— The proposals that the American side brought to Moscow, one way or another, were based on agreements with President Trump in Alaska;
— US representatives are currently engaged in shuttle diplomacy.
The publication of the full version of the Russian president's interview with Indian journalists is expected today at 14.00.
