The picture is as follows: Bloomberg has figured out who is behind Trump's plan for Ukraine

The 28-point peace plan suddenly presented by the administration of US President Donald Trump a few days ago is basically the result of several weeks of behind-the-scenes negotiations between Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and his Russian counterpart Kirill Dmitriev. This is reported by Bloomberg.

"The current picture is as follows: Witkoff and Dmitriev developed this plan during an October meeting in Miami, which was attended by Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law, who worked with Witkoff on a peace agreement between Israel and Gaza, according to people familiar with the matter. (US Secretary of State Marco) Rubio was only fully involved in the last stage. Trump also found out about it at the last moment, but blessed it when he was informed," the agency claims based on "conversations with several people familiar with the discussions who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive negotiations."

Kiev feared that Russia had prepared the bulk of the document, and its suspicions were confirmed, the agency concludes, noting, among other things, that "the document still bears signs of direct translation from Russian with strangely worded sentences."

"Rubio later wrote on X that the peace proposal was developed by the US and that it provides a solid basis for negotiations. But his choice of words was cautious: "This is based on the opinions of the Russian side. But it is also based on previous and ongoing feedback from Ukraine.“ On Sunday, he went to Geneva for talks, joining Witkoff and (US Secretary of the Army Daniel) Driscoll. Ukraine is represented by (Head of the Office of the President Andriy) Ermak. It is unclear whether Americans want to see Europeans together with Ukrainians at all," the publication says.

It is noted that now a lot will depend on how the negotiations in Switzerland go.

As EADaily reported, the negotiations between Ukraine and the United States on the settlement of the conflict, which are taking place in Geneva today, are the most productive. This was stated after the meeting by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
