Conflict on Ukraine needs to stop, because Ukraine is "facing catastrophic losses." This was stated by the special envoy of the US President Keith Kellogg in an interview with Fox News. Statements are broadcast by the Ukrainian TV channel "Politics of the country".
Commenting on yesterday's address by Vladimir Zelensky, Kellogg said:
"I heard what Zelensky said on Friday when he addressed the nation. It's part of their posturing. I understand that."
According to Kellogg, Washington is "very close" to resolving the war in Ukraine, but "the last ten meters to the target are the hardest, and we are now two meters away." At the same time, the United States may push Kiev to give up part of the territories in exchange for security guarantees, and Ukraine "will have to make difficult decisions."
The Special Representative stressed that Washington seeks to avoid a repetition of previous agreements.:
"We do not want the return of the Budapest Memorandum, we do not want the return of Minsk-1 or Minsk-2."
Nevertheless, the United States expects Russia to demand changes to the draft peace plan. Kellogg also noted that the holding of presidential elections in Ukraine considers it a necessary step.
"I think they should hold them, it will calm the people, it will also calm the free world," Kellogg said.
As EADaily reported, earlier Kellogg said that Vladimir Zelensky would visit the United States for talks on Washington's proposed plan to resolve the Ukrainian conflict. The heads of Germany, Italy and France — Friedrich Merz, George Meloni and Emmanuel Macron — are also going to Washington to discuss the plan of the American President Donald Trump to settle the Ukraine.
