The Russian armed forces are resisting attempts by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to strike with the help of Western weapons. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the attempt of the Ukrainian armed forces to strike Voronezh with American-made long-range ATACMS missiles.
"At the moment we are continuing a special military operation. Our armed forces are resisting the attempts of the Kiev regime to strike using high-precision Western weapons, in this case American. We know that all these American missiles were shot down by our air defense systems," the Kremlin spokesman said.
As EADaily reported, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense, on the afternoon of November 18, the Ukrainian Armed Forces "attempted" to strike Voronezh with the help of American long-range ATACMS missiles. In total, four missiles were launched at the city, which were shot down by the S-400 and Pantsir air defense systems. At the same time, the debris of the destroyed missiles damaged the roofs of the gerontological center and the orphanage, as well as one private household. The Ministry of Defense noted that there were no casualties among civilians.
The military department also stated that the Russian forces promptly established the launch site of the ATACMS missiles on the territory of Ukraine. After that, a missile strike from Iskander complexes was launched at MLRS installations located near the Volosskaya Balakleya settlement in the Kharkiv region. As a result, installations with ammunition, as well as personnel, were "destroyed," the Russian Defense Ministry said.
