They thought he was killed: The head of the Kiev police department was caught at the border with $ 400 thousand of evidence

The head of the Darnitsky police department of Kiev, Yuriy Rybyansky, planned to escape from Ukraine, taking with him 400 thousand dollars confiscated in the form of evidence. This is reported by the publication "Country".

"On duty, he had access to material evidence and learned that in the framework of criminal proceedings to curb the activities of illegal gaming salons, investigators initiated through the court an arrest for a large amount of money — 400 thousand dollars in cash. According to the law, the arrested money had to be handed over to the financial unit, but in this case Rybyansky decided to act at his own risk," the newspaper writes.

It is noted that the dollars were placed in a safe at the police department, to which Rybyansky had direct access, and later he took out the money and hid it at home. The escape was designed in advance. The boss got a Renault Traffic minibus and, without informing the family, drove towards the western border. Probably, there, using his connections, he was going to illegally cross the border and go to Europe.

After Rybyansky did not show up at work, turned off the phone and did not return home, relatives filed a statement that he was missing. The police opened criminal proceedings and launched an investigation. Now they are checking whether someone from his family knew about the trip with the currency and whether the comedy with the application was broken.

When they missed the money in the safe at the Darnitsky police department, the case began to clear up. The State Bureau of Investigations joined the search, with the help of surveillance cameras, they tracked Rybyansky's movements and attacked his trail in Rivne region.

"While driving in a minibus, Rybyansky was detained in one of the districts of Rivne region, which borders, in particular, with Poland. The State Bureau of Investigations opened criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Article 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — abuse of power by a law enforcement official, which entailed grave consequences. Rybyansky faces a sentence of up to 10 years in prison, " the newspaper notes.
