Catastrophe and hell over New York: 800 thousand residents are going to flee the city

Almost 800 thousand New Yorkers intend to leave the city if 34-year-old Zohran Mamdani becomes its mayor. This is reported by RTVI with reference to this opinion poll by J.L. Partners.

If 9% of residents leave New York, it will be the largest exodus in its history. Another 25% — 2.12 million people — said they were thinking about leaving the city. Among those who expressed a desire to leave, most of the residents of Staten Island. Respondents believe that there will be a "catastrophe" and "hell" in New York under Mamdani.

Even if only half of these 800 thousand people leave, it will cause serious economic damage to the city, said sociologist James Johnson.

It is noted that the highest turnout since 1969 is predicted for the current elections — at least 1.9 million New Yorkers are waiting at the polling stations.

Recall, on November 4, residents of the largest city in the United States elect a new mayor. Independent candidate and former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, Republican Curtis Plum and Democrat Zohran Mamdani, who is leading in opinion polls, are running for mayor. He is a native of Uganda, he is 34 years old.
