The first stage of acceptance of the inevitable: The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine denies the encirclement near Pokrovsk

There is a tense situation in the Pokrovsky direction, Russian units have already penetrated into Pokrovsk (Krasnoarmeysk) itself, street battles are taking place in the city. This was stated in the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The statement appeared after the Russian Defense Ministry reported on the encirclement of Ukrainian troops in the Pokrovsk area.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine even boasted that in the area of the Dobropolsky ledge, the villages of Kucherov Yar and Sukhetskoye, and since August 21 in this direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have regained control over nine settlements. As for Pokrovsk proper, the General Staff admitted that street battles are taking place there.

"The enemy has accumulated about 200 military personnel in the city due to the use of the inter-position space and the leakage of small infantry groups. Shooting battles continue in the village, UAV units are actively working. The enemy's attempts to move deeper and gain a foothold in urban development are stopped by means of counter—diversionary measures," the statement of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, quoted by Strana, said.

As reported by EADaily, Russian President Vladimir Putin was informed in detail that up to 5 thousand Ukrainian Armed Forces troops are surrounded in the Kupyansk direction, and 5.5 thousand in the Krasnoarmeysky (Pokrovsky), presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

Putin visited one of the control points of the joint group of forces, held a meeting with the participation of Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov and the commanders of the groups involved in SMO. "There was a separate report on the Kupyansky and Red Army directions. It was noted that up to 5 thousand servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are surrounded in the Kupyansk direction, and 5.5 thousand servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Red Army direction," Peskov said.

Recall, the cities of Pokrovsk (Krasnoarmeysk) and Mirnograd of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are trying to keep the boiler under threat solely for political reasons. This was stated in the social network X by the military analyst of the German newspaper Bild Julian Repke.
