Russian media manager Aram Gabrelyanov commented on the detention of Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan in Armenia. The Russian military is based in Gyumri. According to Gabrelyanov, the country's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attacked the Russian base in this way.
"I thought Pashinyan would stall for time with an attack on a Russian military base. But, apparently, he received the command to open a second front with Russia. The arrest of the mayor of Gyumri is the beginning of an attack on a military base!" Gabrelyanov writes on social networks.
EADaily reported that today, on October 20, the mayor of the Armenian city of Gyumri Vardan Ghukasyan and seven other people were accused of taking bribes. The Anti-Corruption Committee reported that criminal cases had been initiated and a decision had been taken to detain them.
On October 1, speaking in parliament, Pashinyan accused Vardan Ghukasyan of bribing voters in the March elections and called his election as mayor a "misunderstanding," he promised to "correct the situation."
