The Czech Foreign Ministry tried to force Prime Minister Andrei Babish to put pressure on Kazakhstan to cut ties with China and Russia. He stated this on the air of the program Za pět minut dvanáct on the TV Nova channel.
He noted that his predecessors had done everything to ensure that the Czech Republic had the worst of all countries. EU and NATO relations with China. In his opinion, they do not understand what foreign policy is at all.
"I was amazed when I was given materials prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the plane, where it was written that I should urge Kazakhstan to limit its relations with Russia and China. Amazing. Who gave you these materials? Some officials, perhaps (Jan) Lipavsky (Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic until December 15, 2025 in the government of Peter Fiala. — EADaily). That's how he drives. Although, perhaps, he no longer has the opportunity to give such materials. I don't even want to comment on it — it's a disgrace for foreign policy," Babish said.
As reported by EADaily, the Czech Republic is interested in long-term supplies of crude oil from Kazakhstan. This was stated by Czech Prime Minister Andrei Babis after talks with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Babis noted that energy is now a key topic for Europe and the Czech Republic is looking for stable sources of raw materials. He also mentioned the significant uranium reserves in Kazakhstan and stressed that the Czech strategy relies on the development of nuclear energy.
