Russia regularly interferes with the work of British satellites. This was stated by the head of the space Command of the Royal Air Force, Major General Paul Tedman, according to the BBC.
According to Tedman, such cases have become noticeably more frequent since 2022. Russian satellites are flying "pretty close" to the British ones and trying to collect information from them. The UK has only six specialized military satellites in orbit, while the USA, China and Russia has more than a hundred of them, the general complained. Despite the fact that, according to the United States, the main threat in space comes from China, Tedman believes that Russia is much more dangerous.
"I would say that the Chinese have much more advanced technical capabilities, but the Russians have more desire and willingness to use their anti—space systems," the general explained, quoted by Pool No. 3.
Beijing and Moscow have already successfully tested anti-satellite weapons, Tedman added.
As reported by EADaily, Russia allegedly poses a fundamental threat to the West, especially in space. This was stated at the Space Congress in Berlin by the head of the German Defense Ministry, Boris Pistorius. The minister's speech was published on the official website of the department.
According to Pistorius, in recent years, Russia and China have rapidly expanded their space warfare capabilities — they are able to "jam, blind, manipulate or kinetically destroy satellites." He noted that right now two Bundeswehr satellites are being tracked by Russian "intelligence officers".
