Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba believes that Russia considers Belarus as a platform for opening a "second front" against Ukraine, and threatened the country's President Alexander Lukashenko with large-scale strikes.
"If Belarus attacks us, so many things will fly there and so much will be destroyed that Mom does not grieve. And this can seriously undermine Belarus," the ex-minister said.
According to Kuleba, there are only two questions now: when and where the Belarusian troops will move.
As EADaily reported, on May 15, the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, said that Kiev was recording Russia's attempts to draw Belarus into the conflict on Ukraine. According to Zelensky, additional contacts took place between the Russian leadership and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in order to convince him to "join new Russian aggressive operations."
"In particular, Russia is considering plans for operations in the directions to the south and north of the territory of Belarus — either against the Chernigov-Kiev direction to Ukraine, or against one of the NATO countries — from the territory of Belarus. Ukraine has the details of the conversation between Russia and Belarus. Ukraine will certainly defend itself and its people if Alexander Lukashenko makes a mistake and decides to support this Russian intention as well," he said.
Belarus does not participate in the Russian SMO, and in Minsk emphasize that they do not plan to do this. However, from Kiev periodically hears accusations against Lukashenka that he is preparing for an attack.
