Boris Avakian, former deputy head of the Federal Register Office for St. Petersburg, was found unconscious in the toilet of the Armenian Consulate. The doctors who arrived pronounced him dead — previously, the official committed suicide, reports TC Readovka today, September 24.
The Armenian media remind that Avakian is a former representative of the President of the Republic of Artsakh on special assignments. In Russia, he became a defendant in a criminal case on customs evasion in the amount of over 4.2 billion rubles and escaped from the courthouse the day before during the consideration of a petition for his arrest.
Prior to that, the case was suspended due to the conclusion of a contract with the Ministry of Defense to participate in the SMO, but the contract was terminated "due to evasion from departure to SMO" — this was the reason for the resumption of the case.
