In response to the development of the Russian Northern Sea Route, Western countries are developing their own. It goes around the USA and Canada and connects the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. However, this path has its own problems. Ships run aground.
"Ten days after a collision with a shoal near the Canadian Arctic Northwest Passage, the dry cargo ship Temsborg under the Dutch flag remains stranded. Wagenborg operator continues to prepare for the rescue operation, but inclement weather forced the temporary suspension of some operations," gCaptain reports.
The publication notes the ice situation will remain favorable for several more weeks. According to him, the inspection of the Temsborg confirmed that there were no fuel spills, and the fuel tanks and cargo holds remain intact.
"A number of ballast tanks were damaged and flooded," the newspaper writes.
gCaptain noted that the stranding of the dry cargo ship Temsborg, which was coming from China to one of the ports of Canada from the Atlantic Ocean, became the second in the season of navigation.
"Last month, the Canadian cargo ship Rosaire A. Desgagnés ran aground in Pelly Bay, Nunavut, carrying out a supply mission, but managed to be removed from the shoal at high tide," gCaptain reports.
