An unknown person shot at a right-wing activist, a well-known supporter of US President Donald Trump, executive director of Turning Point USA (TPUSA) Charlie Kirk during a debate in Utah. It is reported by NBS News.
The event was held outdoors in the courtyard of the University of Utah Valley.
"Kirk was taken out of the premises by his security team, the university said. The footage distributed on the Internet shows how Kirk recoils after a shot was fired, and blood is pouring from his neck, " the agency reports.
It is noted that the suspect is in custody.
Fox News, in turn, reports that Kirk was hospitalized in serious condition.
Trump has just commented on the shooting on his Truth Social network. "We should all pray for Charlie Kirk, who was wounded," Trump writes, quoted by the Donald Trump in Russian telegram channel.
US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth also called for prayers for Kirk.
"Pray for Charlie Kirk. An incredible Christian, American and human being. May the healing hand of Jesus Christ be with him," he writes on the social network X.
