The next level of escalation of the conflict in the Baltic region with Russia is "about to come." This was stated in an interview with DW❶ by Helge Adrians, an employee of the Berlin Foundation for Science and Politics (SWP).
He expects a noticeable increase in cases of "escorting Russian shadow tankers by the Russian military fleet through the North and Baltic Seas," writes the DW❶ Main telegram channel.
Meanwhile, a maritime safety expert from University of Copenhagen Christian Bueger, in an interview with DW❶, said that more and more unidentified drones, presumably Russian, began to be recorded in the Baltic.
"Attacks on wind farms using drones are possible, which is fraught with a new wave of escalation. And such events may happen this year," Bueger predicts.
It is noted that since the beginning of this year, the Danish authorities have tightened control over the vessels of the Russian "shadow fleet". According to the Danish Maritime Administration, more than 60 oil tankers have been checked off the coast near the city of Skagen since February. The inspections are due to EU sanctions against the Russian raw materials sector, as well as the "threat to the environment." Courts have Skagen is most often detained, referring specifically to the requirements of safety and nature protection, which Russia considers "only an excuse."
While Germany only promises to strengthen patrols in the Baltic, Denmark has already purchased ten so-called sailing drones for maritime surveillance from the United States, the publication says.
As reported by EADaily, persistent statements that Russia will soon attack Western countries indicate that they are hatching appropriate plans for the Russian Federation. This was stated by former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov. According to him, there is no other explanation.
