Armenia did not accept the US offer to lease a 42 km road through Syunik — the "Zangezur Corridor". This was stated by the head of the People's Assembly Commission on European Integration Arman Egoyan.
"We saw the danger of ceding sovereignty," Egoyan told Factor.
According to him, the Armenian government agrees "to consider the issue of unblocking communications in the region within the framework of compliance with the principles of sovereignty, jurisdiction, reciprocity and territorial integrity."
As EADaily reported, the day before, the information department of the Armenian government denied the information of the Spanish edition Periodista Digita about the coordination by Yerevan, Baku and Washington of a memorandum on the creation of the Zangezur Corridor — the Trump Bridge.
According to the newspaper, the memorandum provides for the implementation of a 42-kilometer corridor project that will pass through the Syunik region of Armenia. Control over the road will allegedly pass to the United States, which will send 1,000 military personnel to a private military company there.
