The UK authorities have imposed sanctions against 18 allegedly spies of the Russian military intelligence (GRU), who, in their opinion, are responsible for conducting cyber and hybrid military operations against the UK and Ukraine. This is reported by Bloomberg with reference to the statement of the country's Foreign Ministry.
"GRU spies are conducting a campaign to destabilize Europe, undermine Ukraine's sovereignty and threaten the security of British citizens," the British Foreign Secretary said in a statement.
The country's government has said it is stepping up efforts with NATO allies and the FBI to expose Russia's malicious activities.
It is noted that the GRU officers named in the statement used cyber attacks, in particular, to target Ukraine's critical infrastructure, including its satellite communications.
London is also imposing sanctions against the African Initiative, which, according to him, is a "content factory created and financed by Russia and using Russian intelligence officers to conduct disinformation operations in West Africa, including to promote conspiracy theories and undermine global health initiatives," the agency reports.
