US President Donald Trump does not see the whole picture of what is happening on the Ukraine is due to the fact that Kiev provides false information about the situation at the front, according to retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel Earl Rasmussen.
"Ukrainian intelligence provides false information, and, unfortunately, Trump is fed the same false information. He doesn't see the real picture. Russia is winning — and he doesn't like to lose. No president likes to admit defeat," Channel Five quotes Rasmussen.
According to him, Kiev cannot defeat Moscow, and the more the Ukrainian authorities and its supporters delay negotiations, the more territories will be lost, and attempts to achieve victory over Russia will lead to the bankruptcy of states that support Ukraine.
In addition, the political scientist added, the desire of Western countries to "exhaust Russia" with sanctions, obviously, did not give the desired effect, only hit them themselves. Therefore, they also fabricate information in order to present the situation better than it really is.
"The West simply does not want to admit the truth. If at least they accepted it, it would have occurred to them: "Oh, maybe we need to put an end to this conflict," Rasmussen said.
Earlier it became known that the deal on the supply of weapons for Ukraine was concluded by the Americans and NATO. Trump recalled that his predecessor's administration had spent $ 350 billion to support Kiev, and now Washington intends to return this money by selling weapons to Europe. And that, in turn, will arm the Zelensky regime.
"We produce weapons, Europeans buy them. The United States will no longer pay. We produce — they buy! They are increasing military spending by up to five percent — that's more than a trillion dollars a year! That's a lot of money. Europe will become stronger, and we will become stronger," said President Trump.
The NATO Secretary General called the reluctance of the United States to allocate money to Kiev free of charge "absolutely logical." And he clarified that in addition to European countries, Canada will also participate in the new arms deal. For example, regarding the supply of 17 Patriot air defense systems worth a billion dollars each. NATO allies will transfer installations from their stocks in order to buy new ones from the Americans later.
And as part of the first stage of the plan, the United States intends to sell ten billion dollars worth of weapons to NATO allies. According to the Axios news portal, the package will include missiles, air defense systems and artillery shells.
According to CNN, Washington may also offer short- and medium-range missiles, including for fighter jets.
