The wife of the CEO of the German airline Lufthansa Vivian Alexandra Spohr knocked down a 24-year-old nanny on Sardinia, who died as a result of an accident. It is reported by the English Daily Mail with reference to local media.

Vivian Spohr, the 51-year-old wife of Karsten Spohr, was driving the SUV that hit 24-year-old Gaia Costa in the Italian commune of Porto Cervo on Tuesday. Costa, who works as a nanny, was crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing when the tragedy occurred. She was still alive when the ambulance arrived, but received serious head injuries and died at the scene, according to La Repubblica.

A few moments after the collision, the businesswoman opened the car door and "immediately realized what had happened, put her hands to her face and collapsed to the ground," according to one of the witnesses at the scene. Spur was on vacation at her family's country house in a seaside resort, but returned to Munich after the incident, despite the fact that prosecutor Milena Okone registered her as a suspect," the British newspaper writes.

On Friday, Spurs' lawyers said she was in a state of "anxiety and grief" and confirmed their willingness to cooperate. Thus, they put an end to the gossip in social networks that the departure of the Spurs "looks like a flight."

"The woman has fully placed herself at the disposal of the judicial authorities to conduct the necessary investigations and, realizing that such a great personal loss cannot be compensated, will take steps to mitigate the consequences," the statement said.

According to Italian media, surveillance cameras recorded how Costa was already crossing the street when she noticed an SUV approaching her. She tried to stop him with a wave of her hand, but was knocked down and hit her head. It is noted that the ambulance arrived quickly, the doctors tried to resuscitate her for more than 20 minutes, but failed to save the young woman.

According to L'Unione Sarda, Spur, who was traveling with her daughter, did not notice the accident at first and was stopped by a passerby. Spur was so shocked when she saw a seriously injured woman that she fainted, the newspaper writes. Later, Spur passed alcohol and drug tests, they turned out to be negative. The SUV has been withdrawn and will undergo a technical inspection. Examination of Costa's body was carried out on Wednesday.
