The German Embassy in Moscow, which used in its publication in the telegram channel a map on which it "crossed the flags of the USSR and the Third Reich," apologized.
The day before, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, demanded that the German Embassy in Apologies to Moscow for such an anti-historical fake.
"In yesterday's publication of the embassy about the division of Germany into four occupation zones in 1945, a map of that time with incorrect data was used," the German diplomatic mission said in a statement.
"In no way did we want to hurt the feelings of our subscribers, so we replaced the image after we found out about the mistake. We apologize," the German diplomats said.
As EADaily reported, the publication of the German Embassy was posted the day before, and then deleted. Zakharova explained this anti—historical fake "either by the stupidity of the employees of the German foreign Ministry, or by a conscious, and according to Russian laws, an illegal attempt to equalize the Third Reich and The Soviet Union in The Second World War." According to the diplomat, there is also a third option: "they have stopped working at the German embassy for a long time, but simply pay for outsourcing to Russian-speaking citizens of Ukraine or exchange such fakes by barter for missiles." As Zakharova stressed, "an apology for this in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Victory over Nazism would not be superfluous."
