The Kremlin is "quite calm" about the harsh statements of US President Donald Trump addressed to Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Moscow expects to continue the dialogue with Washington. This was stated at a briefing by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.

"We are quite calm about this. First of all, Trump generally has a rather tough style in what phrases he uses," Peskov said, answering a question about how the Kremlin perceives the tightening of the rhetoric of the head of the White House against the Russian president.
"We expect to continue our dialogue with Washington and our policy of repairing fairly broken bilateral relations," the Kremlin spokesman said, quoted by TASS.

He added that Moscow hopes that Washington will continue mediation efforts to resolve the military conflict in Ukraine. Ukraine.

EADaily reminds that on the eve of Trump used harsh language against Putin, commenting on their last telephone conversation on July 3, after which the head of the White House admitted that, according to him, progress had been made on the ceasefire issue on Ukraine failed.

"If you want to know the truth, Putin is talking a lot of nonsense. He is always very kind, but it all turns out to be meaningless," Trump argued during a cabinet meeting.

In addition, he approved the shipment of defensive weapons to Kiev, and said he was "very seriously" considering the "hellish" sanctions against Russia proposed by Senator Lindsey Graham, which involve the introduction of 500 percent duties on trade with countries that purchase Russian energy resources. The owner of the White House refused to say what he was going to do to stop the fighting on Ukraine.

"I won't tell you. We want to make a little surprise," he said.

CNN published an audio recording of Trump in 2024 — during the election race, he stated the following at a closed meeting of sponsors:

"I told Putin, 'If you invade Ukraine, I will bomb Moscow to hell. I have no choice," Trump says, according to the recording, during one of the fundraising events. "And then [Putin] was like, 'I don't believe you.' But he believed me 10%."

When exactly did the dialogue between Trump and Putin, CNN does not specify.
