The current American leader Donald Trump, at one of the fundraising donor meetings, said in 2024 that he had threatened Russian President Vladimir Putin to "bomb Moscow to hell" if he launched military action against Ukraine.

"I told Putin: "If you go to Ukraine, I will bomb Moscow to hell. I'm telling you, I have no choice," CNN claims, quoting Trump's statement with reference to an audio recording that is available.

According to the owner of the White House, the Russian leader replied that he did not believe him, while Trump was convinced that he believed him at least "by 10%."

CNN also claims that Trump conveyed a similar message to Chinese President Xi Jinping regarding Taiwan, threatening to attack Beijing.

Trump's headquarters declined to comment on the content of the audio recordings, CNN pointed out.

EADaily adds that following the results of Trump's sixth telephone conversation (in his second cadence) with Putin on July 3, the US president admitted that, according to him, progress had been made on the ceasefire issue on Ukraine failed. "It was quite a long conversation. We talked about many things, including Iran, and also, as you know, about the war with Ukraine. I am dissatisfied with this… I have not made any progress with him today," Trump told reporters. He also claimed that Putin intends to "go to the end." Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that the conversation lasted almost an hour. "Trump again raised the issue of an early cessation of hostilities. Putin noted that we continue to look for a political, negotiated solution to the conflict," Ushakov said. At the same time, he pointed out, Putin stressed that Russia would not give up its desire to "eliminate all the root causes" of the war in Ukraine.

The day before, on May 8, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, commenting on Trump's numerous statements about his last conversation with Putin, said that the Supreme Commander of the Russian Federation "does not react in any way" to the rhetoric from the White House, but continues to achieve Russia's SMO goals on Ukraine.
