The court sentenced the former deputy head of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Colonel-General Khalil Arslanov, to 17 years in a high-security penal colony in a case of bribery and fraud.
"The court found Arslanov Kh.A. guilty under part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud on an especially large scale), part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (receiving a bribe on an especially large scale) and sentenced him to imprisonment for a term of 17 years with serving his sentence in a strict regime colony," the the verdict.
He was fined 24.5 million rubles. In addition, Arslanov was stripped of the rank of Colonel-General.
As it was established in court, Khalil Arslanov, being the head of the Main Directorate of Communications of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, stole 6.7 billion rubles for the supply of portable radio stations, approving documents with an inflated value.
