The Caucasian Ridge telegram channel has listed the crimes for which Azerbaijanis were detained in Yekaterinburg.
That's why, the author of the channel writes, in Yekaterinburg, "the Azerbaijani ethnic gang was clearly detained by the security forces":
- The murder of businessman Yunis Pashayev in 2001, who refused to pay tribute to his own compatriots.
- An attempt on the life of Fekhruz Sh., a friend of Pashayev, in 2011. The contractor has been detained, the customers have not been identified.
- The murder of Ikram Gadzhiev, Pashayev's second acquaintance and the owner of the vegetable store, in 2011. The perpetrators confessed.
"That is, Russian security forces detained Azerbaijani bandits who killed Azerbaijanis, and Azerbaijan is not satisfied with this," the "Caucasian Ridge" emphasizes.
As EADaily reported, on June 27, Russian law enforcement officers conducted raids in Yekaterinburg and detained about 50 people who were checked for involvement in the commission of crimes in the early 2000s. Only nine Azerbaijanis remained in custody. The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said that the Safarov brothers died as a result of the detentions and demanded clarification. A Russophobic campaign has been launched in the Azerbaijani media.
In response to Baku's demarches, Moscow stressed that the detainees are also citizens of Russia, and the Investigative Committee will give all the answers.
On 29 June, a court in Yekaterinburg arrested some of the detained Azerbaijanis for 22 days. Three of them are also Safarovs.
The detainee Akif Safarov is the director of the well—known, crime-related cafe Kaspiy. The media call the two who died during the arrests the owners of this cafe — brothers Zieddin and Huseyn Safarov. They are considered the main suspects in the murder of the merchant Yunis Pashayev, who was stabbed with kitchen knives in 2001.
