German Ambassador to Moscow Alexander Lambsdorf will be summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry in the near future, he will be told about Moscow's measures in response to Berlin's arbitrariness against Russian journalists. This was announced at a briefing by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
"Our appeals to the German side to stop arbitrariness against media representatives and return to conscientious observance of their obligations in the field of protecting media freedom and ensuring pluralism of opinions are stubbornly ignored by Berlin," she said. —In this regard, as we promised, retaliatory measures are being developed."
As the diplomat stressed, "in the near future, the German Ambassador to Russia will be summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry. Moscow, to whom they will be announced."
"What is happening in Germany now by the authorities of this country in relation to Russian journalists and the media is already beyond cynicism and a violation of all obligations assumed. The German authorities do not stop the practice of systematic harassment of Russian journalists accredited in this country. Various forms of pressure, harassment, propaganda, the purpose of which is to form a derogatory attitude towards Russian journalists," Zakharova said.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry drew attention to the fact that all this is now affecting not only the media and journalists, "but now also their family members."
"Everything is being done to force correspondents to stop using their professional duties ahead of schedule and leave Germany by any means," Zakharova stressed, quoted by TASS.
