Scammers continue to invent new schemes to steal money from Russians. The press service of Roskachestvo told about another "breakthrough" in the field of criminal business.
They explained that the basis of the new method of robbery is the issuance of microloans for gullible users. To do this, the attackers call under the guise of couriers and ask to name the code from the SMS, which allegedly comes from official stores.
"The potential victim receives a code from the official store. However, in fact, this code is used to issue a microloan by a microcredit company," the TASS agency quotes the statement.
If the victim reports the code to the scammers, then she confirms the loan application. After gaining access to the issued microloan, fraudsters spend this money to buy a large batch of goods in the store.
Roskachestvo warned that the case may not be limited to one operation. Attackers can sell victim data to other microfinance organizations.
The statement says that behind every successful micro-loan scam there is a whole network of intruders who clearly distribute functions.
Some hackers break into databases and steal citizens' data, others use the information to issue microloans, and still others are engaged in wholesale of the purchased.
