Director of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies (KIS) under the President Zhandos Shaimardanov became the RK. The corresponding decree was signed by the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the press service of the Kazakh leader reports.
"By the order of the head of state, Yerkin Valitkhanovich Tukumov was relieved of the post of director of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. By another order of the head of state, Shaimardanov Zhandos Nurlanovich was appointed director of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan," the information says.
Zhandos Shaimardanov was born on February 24, 1987 in East Kazakhstan region. Graduated from York University (UK), IE University (Spain).
He started his career in 2009 in the Ministry of Economy and Planning of the Republic of Kazakhstan as a chief expert. From 2010 to 2014, he held various positions in the National Welfare Fund Samruk-Kazyna JSC, the Department of State Liability Management Policy and Financial Sector Development of the Ministry of Economy and Budget Planning of the Republic of Kazakhstan. From 2014 to 2023 — senior positions in the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, NMH Baiterek JSC, QazTech Ventures JSC, the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In 2023-2025, he was the chairman of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
From May 14, 2025 to the present, he has held the position of Vice Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan.
