In the USA, Democratic Party deputy Melissa Hortman and her husband were killed in Minnesota.

According to investigators, Hortman, the former speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives, and her husband Mark were shot dead at their home in Brooklyn Park at about 3.35 local time (11.35 Moscow time). The shooter posed as a policeman before opening fire.

There was also an assassination attempt on state Senator John Hoffman. According to preliminary data, the attack was committed by the same person.
