In Dubai (UAE) on the night of Saturday, June 14, a 67-storey residential skyscraper, which is located in the fashionable Dubai Marina district, caught fire. It is reported by The National.
According to the newspaper, all 3,820 residents of 764 apartments were safely evacuated to a safe place. As told in the Dubai Media Department, the localization of the fire took six hours.
Now the building is still shrouded in smoke. The authorities explained this with ongoing efforts to cool the structure.
"After the localization of the fire and the safe evacuation of all residents, the smoke visible now is associated with ongoing cooling operations — part of the extinguishing process. The situation is completely under control," the statement said.
The department added that ambulance crews are working on the spot, ready to provide medical and psychological support to the evacuated residents. Also, the authorities are coordinating with the developer of the building that caught fire to provide them with housing for temporary accommodation.
According to The National, the fire started on the upper floors of the building on June 13 at about 21:30 local time (20:30 Moscow time). The cause of the fire has not yet been established.
Earlier, EADaily reported that on June 12, the Burj Khalifa tower in Dubai was illuminated with the colors of the Russian flag in honor of Russia Day.
