Israel and the United States "will receive a strong slap in the face" because of Israeli strikes on Iran, General Abolfazl Shekarchi, spokesman for the Iranian armed forces, said on state television, The New York Times reports.
According to him, the Iranian armed forces are preparing and will soon strike back. Shekarchi noted that the targets of the Israeli strikes were the homes of officials and military commanders, and some of them were killed.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said earlier that Washington was not involved in the Israeli operation, and warned Iran against actions against the personnel and interests of the American side.
Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned that Israel had "prepared for itself a bitter and painful fate" with its strike and should expect "severe punishment."
"The powerful arm of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic will not leave him alone. When the enemy attacked, several commanders and scientists were killed. Their successors and associates will fulfill their duties without delay," Mehr cites his message.
