US President Donald Trump called the fight between Elon Musk and US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent "too much", The Washington Post reports, citing former adviser to US President Steve Bannon. The incident occurred on April 17.

"This is too much," Trump said after hearing about the fight.

Newsweek also provides details. According to Bannon, Bessent and Musk, coming out of In the Oval Office in the White House, walked down the hall and exchanged insults. The head of the Ministry of Finance reminded the businessman about the unfulfilled promise to reduce US budget spending by $ 1 trillion, after which the verbal altercation turned into a physical one.

Musk pushed Bessent with his shoulder in the chest, who hit him back, says Bannon. When they reached the office of the National Security Adviser, several people intervened to break up the fight, and Musk was escorted out of the West Wing.

The finance minister added that Trump "100% sided with Bessent after the conflict."

The Axios portal wrote about the quarrel, citing two witnesses of the altercation and three sources aware of the situation. Details of the fight were not given then, but one of the sources then described the altercation as a WWE wrestling show.

Recently, Musk also had a conflict with Trump. The reason for the discord was personnel decisions at NASA and the president's bill, which, in particular, extends tax breaks and increases the debt ceiling to $ 4 trillion.

Musk called the bill a "disgusting abomination" because, in his opinion, the initiative will increase the "already gigantic budget deficit" to $ 2.5 trillion and "burden American citizens with an unbearable debt."

In turn, the president called the billionaire crazy and threatened to deprive him of government contracts.

Vice President J.D. Vance expressed hope for a better relationship between Trump and Musk, blaming everything on the emotional state of the businessman.

"I hope that in the end Elon will return to the ranks. It may not be possible now because it has become so reactive," he said.

Musk left his job in the presidential administration at the end of May, as the 130-day term of his activity as a "special government employee" has expired. He oversaw the work of the Department of State Efficiency (DOGE) under the government. One of the goals that the department set for itself was a sharp reduction in government spending, the $1 trillion target was not achieved.
