Two Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers carried out a planned flight over the neutral waters of the Barents Sea, at some stages of the route they were accompanied by fighters from foreign countries, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"Two Tu-95MS long-range strategic missile carriers of the Russian Aerospace Forces performed a scheduled flight in airspace over the neutral waters of the Barents Sea. The duration of the flight was more than 4 hours. Fighter escort was provided by the crews of Su-33 aircraft of the Navy. At some stages of the route, strategic missile carriers were accompanied by fighters from foreign countries,"the military department said in a statement.
It is noted that long-range aviation crews regularly fly over the neutral waters of the Arctic, North Atlantic, Pacific, Baltic and Black Seas, all flights of the Russian Aerospace Forces aircraft are carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace.
